Thoughts about the upcoming Lunar Eclipse

I was doing my usual reading of the nerd-news and was excited to hear about an upcoming Lunar eclipse (this Wed.) which will be viewable in our view of the night sky. The thing that caught my attention was the newswritters excitement about the colors of moon that will be witnessed this time around. From the article, "... Observers of several recent lunar eclipses have reported a flash of turquoise bracketing the red of totality ..." -- that sounds pretty cool eh?. But it was that part of the article, the part about the "red of totality" that triggered thoughts about certain unresolved bible scriptures. As it turns out, the varying views of Preterism and Dispensationalism (sp?) are heavy on my mind these days. and I couldn't help but think now about how the two camps might interpret the following bible scriptures:

"The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD." --- Joel 2:31

"The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord." --- Acts 2:20

"I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red," -- Revelation 6:12

...I have only three goals in writting this tonight:

1) The eclipse in the northern hemisphere are pretty rare and very cool and i wanted to share the news with you in hopes that you might be able to enjoy the event.

2) It reminded me of the scriptures and I wanted to share my thoughts with you as food for thought for discussions for another time.

3) As I type this...I can't remember the third reason - lol

and oh, please don't think that I'm insinuating that anything prophetic is going to be fulfiled. I am not implying that these two things are related in any reality. They are only related in my thoughts and I wanted to share them with you because....well just because I'm me and you are my friends.

"Metallica Loves You!"

...did he just say what I think he just said?!?! At the end of an incredibly intense and precision-executed evening of kick-butt thrash-metal by super-band Metallica, the rough and tough lead vocalist and rhythem guitarist James Hetfield says with genuine and tender love and with sincere affection to the crowd... "Thank you very much Columbus [Oh]... Metallica Loves You... Diary of a Snow Shoveler

Someone sent me this when we first moved to Ohio. I laughed really hard when I read it the first time. Now its uncomfortably close to home ;-) Enjoy... DIARY OF A SNOW SHOVELER December 17th --- 6:00 PM - It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! December 18th --- We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the whole world? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had! Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life!
